A 15-year-old pregnant girl is among the 2,627 candidates in Kibaale District set to sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) starting this Wednesday. The girl, a minor registered at Kiriika Primary School’s UNEB sitting center in Bubango Sub County, has chosen to continue with her exams despite her situation. School officials declined to comment on her case, though reports indicate that her family and the family of the secondary school boy responsible for the pregnancy have privately settled the matter.
All candidates across the 47 examination centers in Kibaale were thoroughly briefed on exam rules to avoid any malpractice. School administrators urged candidates to focus on completing the exams responsibly, with UNEB reporting that a total of 798,771 students will be sitting for PLE nationwide. The exams will commence with the Mathematics paper in the morning and Social Studies in the afternoon.
John Talagaboine, Kibaale District’s Senior Education Officer overseeing PLE activities, stated that 114 invigilators and 43 scouts have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of exams across the district. Students expressed confidence in their preparation and optimism about their performance.
