In a joyous celebration, 360 children were confirmed at St. Karoli Lwanga Catholic Parish in Kaberamaido, Kaberamaido District. The Right Reverend Joseph Eciru Oliach, Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese, officiated the confirmation ceremony.
Bishop Oliach emphasized the significance of the day, stating that it was a special day for the candidates, as they received the anointing oil and became solid soldiers of Christ. He encouraged them to keep their faith strong, spread the good news about Christ, and become witnesses of Christ to the end of the earth.
In his message, Bishop Oliach cautioned against being Christians with differences and Catholics with differences. He made this summons during his pastoral visit to St. Karoli Lwanga Catholic Parish in Kaberamaido.
Apio Melda Rose, one of the confirmands from Opiro Zone, Kaberamaido Parish, expressed her joy, saying, “I am very happy because, at my age, I will be a great Christian and follower of Christ. I will do my best and keep reminding myself to pray every day to strengthen my faith.”
Eyau Gerland, another confirmand, shared his excitement, saying, “I am very happy to have received confirmation because it has been a long-awaited dream. Today, with the blessing from his lordship, my dream has come true. It’s a day of joy and blessing because I have received the Holy Spirit in my life, and I have now changed. My faith has grown stronger today, following my faith.”
Rev. Father Emmanuel Alucha requested parents to send their children to St. Karoli Senior Secondary School, now that the Primary Leaving Examination results are out. He thanked Bishop Oliach for his support towards the school.
In his final message, Bishop Oliach thanked the Christians for keeping the man of God in good condition and thanked the children who received confirmation. He declared this year as the “Pilgrim of Hope” and requested parents to support St. Karoli Lwanga Senior Secondary School, urging them to own and support the school.
