The much-anticipated Pagada Bridge in Palabek Kal Sub-county, Lamwo County, is set for commissioning in just one week. Following my final inspection today, I am pleased to report that the Shs 2.9 billion project is on schedule and ready to serve the community.
This milestone project, funded through the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDIP) under the Office of the Prime Minister, with support from the World Bank, represents a significant investment in the region’s infrastructure. The Pagada Bridge is expected to be a catalyst for rapid growth and development in the area by improving access to markets and services for residents.
I extend my deepest gratitude to the Office of the Prime Minister and the World Bank for their support in making this project a reality. Their commitment to enhancing infrastructure in displacement-affected areas is commendable and reflects a broader vision of inclusive development and regional integration.
Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Osborn Oceng Geoffrey, who oversaw the service check, emphasized the bridge’s importance for local communities. “The Pagada Bridge is more than just a structure; it is a lifeline that will connect our people to vital resources and opportunities,” said Oceng. “This is a testament to our government’s dedication to improving the livelihoods of all Ugandans, especially those in underserved areas.”
The completion of the Pagada Bridge marks a significant achievement for the NRM government, underscoring its commitment to infrastructure development and regional growth. By enhancing connectivity and facilitating trade, this project will help unlock the economic potential of Palabek Kal Sub-county and the surrounding regions
As we look forward to the official commissioning, let us celebrate this accomplishment and remain committed to furthering development initiatives that uplift and empower our communities. This bridge is not just an infrastructure project; it is a symbol of progress, unity, and the promise of a brighter future for all.
