With just days to go, Soroti District is putting the final touches on preparations for International Youth Day on August 12th, 2024, at Soroti Core Primary Teachers College (PTC). This highly anticipated event will showcase the dynamism of Ugandan youth and attract attendees from across the country.
Jacob Eyeru, Chairman of the National Youth Council, assured that everything is set. “We’re rolling out the red carpet for Uganda’s youth,” Eyeru declared. “The community’s support has been phenomenal, and we’re making sure this event is both memorable and transformative.”
The celebration will feature a range of activities, including cultural performances, exhibitions, and discussions on youth empowerment and development. These activities aim to provide a platform for young people to voice their aspirations, showcase their talents, and engage with policymakers. “Our goal is to ignite the passion of our youth, encouraging them to become the change-makers of their communities,” Eyeru added.
His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the guest of honor, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in Uganda’s future. His presence is expected to inspire and motivate attendees.
Local businesses and vendors are preparing for the influx of visitors, ready to offer food, crafts, and services. The event is set to boost the local economy and highlight the entrepreneurial spirit of the region’s youth.
