KUMI, UGANDA – The community of Amagoro Village, Totolim Parish, Kanapa Sub-County, is thrilled to have access to safe and clean water thanks to a newly constructed borehole. The borehole, commissioned by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Ahamada Washaki, was constructed by the Christian Foundation for Community Development (CFCD), a non-governmental organization (NGO).
RDC Washaki praised the CFCD for supplementing government efforts to deliver safe water to the community. “We are grateful for the support of organizations like CFCD, who share our vision of providing essential services to our people,” he said.
The community, which had previously struggled to access clean water, was overjoyed with the new borehole. They showed their appreciation by presenting the RDC and CFCD officials with chicken, a symbol of gratitude in the local culture.
“This borehole is a game-changer for us,” said one community member. “We no longer have to worry about where our next drink of clean water will come from. Thank you to the RDC and CFCD for this wonderful gift.”
The construction of the borehole is part of the government’s efforts to improve access to safe water and sanitation in rural areas. The RDC urged the community to take good care of the borehole and ensure its sustainability.
CFCD officials said they were happy to have made a positive impact in the community and promised to continue supporting initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable populations.
The commissioning of the borehole marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the government and NGOs to deliver essential services to rural communities.
