Ngora County’s fight for economic freedom took a giant leap forward this weekend as the area MP, Hon. Juliet Achayo Lodou, injected UGX 30 million into 60 SACCO groups across Kobwin Sub-County. This initiative, part of a broader economic empowerment program, continues to elevate the lives of the residents by guiding them out of the poverty trap and toward sustainable financial independence.
The handover of the funds was more than just a financial transaction. Achayo, drawing on her extensive experience as a businesswoman and entrepreneur, delivered a powerful, step-by-step message on the process of “frog-jumping poverty.” Her well-crafted speech was a rallying cry for the people of Ngora to embrace saving, investment, and income-generating activities as a means of breaking free from poverty’s grip.
In her address, Achayo emphasized the importance of mechanized agriculture, a strategy that she believes is central to Ngora’s economic transformation. “The key to prosperity lies in mastering the art of saving and investing, combined with modern agricultural practices,” she told the eager audience. “We will not rest until Ngora is fully liberated from poverty.”
This latest donation is part of Achayo’s larger vision of creating an economically self-sufficient Ngora. Her campaign slogan, “OKOCAU NGORA,” has become a resounding success, with many locals praising her efforts as they witness tangible results. Community members have been quick to note that her initiatives are transforming lives and fulfilling the promises she made during her campaign.
A local elder, Okiror Paska, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We have never seen such commitment to the people. Achayo is a leader who truly cares about our future.” The sentiment was echoed by others in the crowd, who see Achayo’s relentless pursuit of poverty eradication as nothing short of revolutionary.
As the funds were distributed, the atmosphere in Kobwin was one of hope and excitement. The beneficiaries of the SACCOs were not just given money but also armed with the knowledge and tools to make it grow. The county is witnessing the beginning of a new era, one where the locals are empowered to take control of their own economic destinies.
With Achayo’s continued efforts, the people of Ngora are crossing the poverty bridge—one step, and one innovative initiative, at a time. The future of the county has never looked brighter.
