Maracha District.
Two Sub-counties in Maracha Constituency, Maracha District who raised their challenge to Maracha Constituency MP Aspirant on NRM Party ticket Mr Uhuru Nelson, have been blessed to receive some funds to repair their Boreholes in order to ease access to safe water for both the locals and the institutions in the surrounding areas.
According to the local leaders, the Boreholes, one located at Gbulukua primary school in Oluvu Sub-county and another located in Obiba Sub-county, broke down months ago and repairing them had become a big challenge due to financial constraints the institutions are facing.
Since Gbulukua primary school has been chosen as the venue to host this year’s 9-October-2024 Independence Day Celebration in Oluvu Sub-county, the stakeholders in the area said, it has become a matter of urgency to repair the Borehole.
The headteacher for Gbulukua primary school in Oluvu Sub-county, Mr Oridriga Sunday decried breakdown of the Borehole which he said, has forced them as the teachers, the learners in the area and also the locals to start fetching and drinking water from unsafe water sources like streams.
Secretary for Social Services in Oluvu Sub-county, Aziko Margaret appreciated the kind donation of money by Mr Uhuru Nelson after the Sub-county officials made a communication requesting for financial support to repair the Borehole.
LC3 Chairman for Oluvu Sub-county Hon Candia Joel who thanked Mr Uhuru Nelson for heeding to their request for money to repair the broken Borehole, stated that, Oluvu is a Sub-county on a high altitude area which has greatly caused water scarcity in the Sub-county.
Following the concerns raised by the stakeholders in the area ahead of the 9-October-2024 Independence Day Celebration of Oluvu Sub-county which will be hosted at Gbulukua primary school, Maracha Constituency MP Aspirant Mr Uhuru Nelson stated that, this is a matter of urgency which needs to be addressed promptly so as to save the challenge of water in the area.
