Kampala, Uganda – October 16, 2024
The former Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, former Deputy Executive Director David Luyimbazi, and former Director of Public Health and Environment Dr. Daniel Okello have been detained after appearing at the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters today.
The three officials had been summoned earlier, on Monday, October 14, 2024, as part of an ongoing prosecution-led investigation into their tenure at KCCA. Following their engagement with the CID team today, significant developments arose, leading to their detention.
The Uganda Police Force has confirmed via their official X (formerly Twitter) account that the three former KCCA officials are now in custody. They are expected to be arraigned before courts of law, though the specific charges have not yet been publicly disclosed. The investigation reportedly relates to governance and accountability issues during their time in office.
More details will be shared as the case progresses.
