Kaabong District, Uganda – A shocking incident has come to light where a warrior in Kaabong District allegedly used funds from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program to purchase an illegal gun.
According to reliable sources, Lobolia Peter Apa Merinyang, a resident of Lemugete Village in Kathile Sub County, used Ugx 1,000,000 from the PDM package to buy the gun from South Sudan. The firearm, an SMG Rifle No. 45506 with 08 rounds of ammunition, was recovered by security forces.
The suspect was apprehended after firing two bullets in Kathile Town Council. Security forces swiftly responded, recovering the firearm and ammunition.
“We commend the community’s vigilance and swift reporting of suspicious activity,” said a security official. “This recovery demonstrates our commitment to disarmament and maintaining peace in Kaabong District.”
Residents have expressed concern over the alleged misuse of PDM funds intended for community development projects.
