Police in Kiboga have arrested Bukenya Rashid, a 25-year-old nursing student, in connection with multiple kidnappings in the district. Rashid was apprehended on October 16, 2024, and during interrogation, admitted his involvement in two separate kidnappings that took place on October 5 and 12, 2024.
The victims, a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old child, were abducted on the respective dates. In both instances, ransoms of 300,000 UGX and 400,000 UGX were demanded from the families. Fortunately, police efforts led to the successful rescue of both children, who were found unharmed.
Rashid is currently being held at Kiboga Central Police Station as police prepare to formally charge him in court. Investigations are still ongoing as authorities work to establish whether Rashid acted alone or was part of a larger criminal network involved in child abductions.
Local authorities are urging parents to remain vigilant and ensure their children’s safety, especially during times when such incidents have raised public concern. The police have commended the public for their cooperation in this case, which enabled the swift arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the children.
