During the 10th-anniversary celebration of the West Lango Diocese at Aduku Cathedral, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, publicly reminded President Museveni of his unfulfilled pledge to donate a vehicle to the Bishop of West Lango Diocese.
Archbishop Kazimba highlighted that out of 39 dioceses, West Lango remains the only one without a fulfilled presidential vehicle pledge. Despite the challenge, he commended the Bishop for continuing his pastoral duties. Kazimba mentioned that in a recent letter, President Museveni directed his press secretary to expedite the vehicle procurement process.
The pledge was originally made in 2019 during the installation of Rt. Rev. Julius Ceasor Nina Otim, but five years later, it remains unfulfilled.
Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Lira City Woman MP and Minister of Health, represented President Museveni at the event. She committed to following up on the pledge and urged the people of Lango to support Museveni in the 2026 elections, noting that he remains the candidate with a vision for holistic national development.
Lay Canon Richard Ogwang Odyero, chair of the central organizing committee, highlighted key achievements over the past decade, including the establishment of a diocesan dairy farm, a retirement home for the serving bishop, and the creation of over 10 archdeaconries.
