Lira, Uganda: Aloi High School, a government-supported secondary institution, is currently facing a serious shortage of sanitary facilities. The school has an insufficient number of toilets for both boys and girls, and the existing facilities have been damaged by strong winds, further impacting the learning environment. Alongside the sanitation issues, the school is also experiencing a shortage of adequate classrooms, many of which were constructed during the camp period and are now in urgent need of repair.
Mr. Dom Charles, the headteacher, shared that he has already reached out to the district regarding the school’s condition. He noted that the absence of proper sanitary facilities makes it difficult for students to maintain hygiene, which disrupts school activities. Headteacher Dom also called on well-wishers, NGOs, and the Old Students Association to support the school’s development.
He highlighted that these challenges are having a negative impact on student enrollment. Despite the obstacles, the dedicated headteacher reassured the community of their commitment to achieving good results, saying, “We expect to do well.”
Aloi High School is one of the traditional schools in the Lango sub-region and has produced many successful leaders. It has long been regarded as one of the best schools in the area.
