Hon. Rose Kabagyeni is a prominent Ugandan politician and agricultural expert who has recently become the NRM flag bearer for Kisoro District Woman MP in the upcoming by-election, following her primary victory with 39,941 votes (47.7%). Her extensive career in public service and agriculture has made her a respected figure in Kisoro and beyond, recognized for her commitment to community development and women’s empowerment.
Born on August 4, 1974, Kabagyeni first represented Kisoro District as Woman Member of Parliament from 2016 to 2021. Her experience in the legislature was followed by her role as Senior Presidential Advisor on Agriculture, where she continued to advocate for agricultural progress and rural development. Her academic background reflects her dedication to this field: after completing primary school at Gikoro and secondary education at Seseme Girls Secondary School in Kisoro, she earned a diploma and a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, later advancing to a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Makerere University in 2014.
Kabagyenyi’s professional contributions span roles as an Agricultural Officer for the Kisoro local government (1997-2000) and later as the district agricultural officer (2007-2010). She has also served as a consultant for the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS), playing a pivotal role in promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Now as the NRM’s chosen candidate, Kabagyeni is poised to bring her experience back to Kisoro’s representation. Her supporters look forward to her leadership, anticipating a focus on women’s empowerment, youth engagement, and initiatives to drive agricultural and infrastructural development for Kisoro District.
