Today 27th October 2024, the Uganda Police Force handed over 11 bodies of victims from the Kigogwa fire accident to their families at Mulago City Mortuary. Representing the Right Honorable Prime Minister, the Minister of State for National Guidance, Hon. Kabbyanga, officiated the handover ceremony, while Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, provided a detailed report on the procedures undertaken.
In a statement shared on their X account, formerly Twitter, the Uganda Police explained that a total of 24 bodies had been processed, including 18 males and 6 females, with victims from Kigogwa, as well as Kiruddu and Bombo Hospitals. Dr. Byaruhanga noted that the severe burns made the bodies unrecognizable, necessitating DNA identification to ensure accuracy.
The ceremony emphasized the dedication of the Uganda Police and government to support affected families and handle victims with dignity amid the tragic circumstances.
