Katakwi, Uganda – Tragedy struck in Usuk County, Katakwi District, last night when a motorcycle accident claimed the lives of two residents. The deceased, renowned goat businessman Joseph Ikorit from Aterai Village, and 21-year-old Omongin Michael, collided on the notorious Katakwi-Usuk Road.
Eyewitnesses report that the accident occurred due to the poor condition of the road, which has been a hotspot for fatal accidents. Preliminary investigations suggest that the two motorcycles collided, resulting in the tragic loss of life.
The passengers involved in the collision are currently in critical condition.
“This road has claimed many lives, and it’s heartbreaking to see another tragedy unfold,” said a local resident. “We urge the authorities to expedite road repairs and ensure safety measures are put in place.”
Joseph Ikorit was a respected member of the community, known for his successful goat trading business. His loss has sent shockwaves through the area.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to provide support to the families of the deceased.
Residents are calling for immediate action to address the hazardous road conditions, which have become a persistent threat to life.
“We can’t continue to lose loved ones due to neglect,” emphasized a community leader. “We demand urgent attention to our infrastructure.”
