Today, 31st October 2024 , the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Teso Subregion, under the leadership of Focal Person Mr. Erionu Denis and Coordinator Mr. Okware Jonathan, welcomed a significant new member to their ranks. Mr. Odongo Charles, a former National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson for Pingire County and two-term LC III representative, officially joined the NUP and received his party card at the event.
Hailing from Akumoi Village, Akumoi Subcounty, Odongo pledged to rally support for NUP in his community. Expressing his dedication to the party’s mission, he emphasized his commitment to strengthening NUP’s presence in Pingire County and mobilizing voters for the 2026 elections. Odongo’s shift to the opposition reflects growing discontent with current leadership among former NRM representatives.
The NUP office has seen a surge of interest, with numerous people walking in to request party cards, indicating a rising wave of support for NUP’s message of political change and governance centered on public interest rather than personal gain. Coordinator Okware Jonathan urged locals to join NUP’s agenda, emphasizing that a brighter future requires active participation in a people-centered leadership that prioritizes accountability and development.
Denis also informed this publication that NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) will be visiting Teso on November 9th, further energizing party supporters and expanding NUP’s regional influence.
