Over 5,000 residents of Minakulu Sub County in Oyam South are celebrating the repair of two boreholes in Obanga Oloko and Boda villages, thanks to parliamentary aspirant Patrick Ogwang Obura. These boreholes, located in Kulu Abura Parish, had been out of service for six years, forcing locals to rely on unsafe water sources, which led to widespread health issues, including intestinal infections.
Martin Obong, LC1 Chairperson of Boda village, expressed relief, noting that the lack of clean water had strained community relations. Community members thanked Ogwang Obura, describing the repairs as life-changing and pledging to support his bid for the Oyam South parliamentary seat. They credited him with addressing a longstanding need and showcasing effective, community-focused leadership.
Represented by Geoffrey Thadeo Okello, Ogwang Obura encouraged the formation of water source committees to maintain the boreholes and ensure continued access to clean water. This initiative is part of Ogwang Obura’s broader campaign, which has seen the repair of 88 boreholes across Oyam South to improve water access and public health in the region. His efforts have been widely appreciated as a proactive and compassionate response to a critical local issue.
