Government released a sum of Ushs. 148 million towards the construction of a mordern structure in the facility however, signs of shoddy work were observed by the Deputy RDC hence dismissing the commissioning ceremony.

Kaberamaido- Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Kaberamaido District Ms.Claer Aipo has halted the Commissioning of out patient department facility of Abirabira Health center II in Aperikira sub -county over Shoddy works.
The contract was awarded to corridor East Africa investment Uganda limited, on the 7, July 2022 by Kaberamaido District local Government and the contractor was to take a duration of 9 months for the works to be finalized and handed over to the district.
According to the district engineer Mr Francis Ewayu, the contractor exceeded the duration set in the agreement and this he attributed to a number of challenges ranging from financial delays as funds were being released in beats. He also noted that one of the reason why the Commissioning of the facility has been halted is because of unfinished painting in the house and unfinished plumbing.
Government released sum of 148 million shillings to raise a complete structure that could help to mitigate the crisis of infrastructure in the health facility and better the services.

The deputy Resident District Commissioner Ms Clare Aipo told this website that she couldn’t commission the facility because she noted the much need to value for tax payers’ money worthy 148 million shillings.
“as a representative of central Government, there should be value for money, for that reason I have halted the commissioning of the facility because I shouldn’t be held responsible for such a mess, I am also accountable to president Museveni who has zero tolerance to corruption”, she said.
“I will only return to commission the structure when all the incomplete work is cleared that include the smooth painting of all the walls, proper plumbing and fixing of the drainage. I will keep an eye on these works process until the value for the tax payer’s money is realized, something visible to our communities” she added.
Abirabira Health center 2 on average register 90 patients on daily basis and offer services ranging from handling of malaria case, general service, HIV Counseling and testing, Antenatal among others.
