Members of Parliament on Tuesday uncharacteristically condemned the Ministry of Trade Permanent Secretary, Ms. Geraldine Ssali for nobly saving Government Shs8bn in annual rent and instead using Shs6bn for a long-lasting renovation of the Farmers House.
Save for Hon. Barnabas Tinkasimiire of Buyaga West and Theodore Ssekikubo of Lwemiyaga, MPs in a gangland style pounced on the P.S with many making alien allegations against her.
According to the MPs, it was wrong for the P.S to decide to use Shs6bn for the renovation of the Government building housing the Ministry. They amusingly reasoned that it was better to use Shs8bn in annual rent.
Other MPs, using very strong terms, unilaterally “ordered” for the arrest and subsequent jailing of the P.S.
Hon. Nandala Mafabi, who confessed hiding a mysterious Shs300m at Dr. Besigye’s home in Sept 2021 to obnoxiously hide from URA, also blamed the P.S for saving the Government money.
Interestingly, MPs comfortably chose to ignore the part where tye P.S. saved the Government.
