KATAKWI- The medical fraternity at Katakwi General Hospital are stranded with a minor whose genitals were cut by unknown people.
A shocking and stressing incident has struck the community of Palam sub-county in Ngariam County , Katakwi district, where a juvenile’s genitals were brutally cut off by an unknown assailant. The victims parents, John Pampus Imalingat a residents of Okwamumwar village in Palam sub-county, in Katakwi district. The evil act happened while they were away at the market.
The father of the juvenile said he received a call at around 1pm from neighbors about the incident where he rushed and confirmed from the hospital.
“The nasty incident occured on Friday when I came to Ocorimongin market and left the young boy at home. I have no idea of anybody who could have done that to my child while I was away,” he said.
The victim is now under the care of medics at Katakwi general Hospital, with medical
professionals struggling to provide appropriate care and solution due to the severity of the case.
it is reported that the strange incident unfolded last Friday, 25th of August 2023, leaving the community shock and disbelief.
The assailant, still unidentified, targeted the juvenile while they were alone at home. The parents who were striving to make ends meet at the popular Ocorimongin cattle market,
returned to the devastating news.
The community is in shock as they struggle to comprehend how such a brutal act could be perpetrated on an innocent child.
The incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and support, particularly for vulnerable members of the community like children the lame and the marginalised persons.
Medics at Katakwi general Hospital are grappling with the severity of the case. Dr. Aliko Emanuel, a
pediatricians at the hospital, has been forced to improvise solutions to assist the juvenile to
urinate.
However, the medical team is explicit that they lack the resources and expertise to provide adequate care for this situation.
The situation demands urgent attention from medical professionals who specialize in trauma and reconstructive surgery.
The juvenile’s physical and psychological well-being remain critical which calls for swift intervention.
The incident serves as a rallying cry for the community to unite against such gruesome acts of violence and also highlights the importance of advocacy for the rights and protection of children, as well as the need for better security measures within the community.
Vice president totally shocked
The disturbing incident has attracted attention of various top leaders including the Vice President Rt. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo Epel and the State Minister for Teso Affairs Dr. Clement Ongalo Obote who where in Katakwi celebrating Youth day where informed of the matter and jointly visited the facility on Tuesday morning to support the child’s family in saving the life first.

Although police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, public has been asked to raise vigilance especially on children’s safety.
