Vice President Rtd. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo hands over the ambulance to the Katakwi district Authorities on Tuesday 28th August 2023.
The vice president of the republic of Uganda, H.E Jessica Rose Alupo Epel has handed over a brand new ambulance to the authorities of katakwi district.
The colorful event took place at the Katakwi district Boma grounds in Katakwi town council where the ambulance with registration number UG 1047 Z landcruser white in color, labeled ministry of Teso affairs was handed over to the authorities of Katakwi by the VP Alupo and minister of Teso affairs Dr. Kenneth Ongalo Obote and received by the district chairperson Geoffrey Omolo.
While handing over the ambulance, VP Alupo asked the authorities to maintain the ambulance since the district took long without steadily functioning ambulance.
Alupo added that, the district facing tough times during referrals majorly expectant mothers from the when referred from other health facilities of the district to the main general hospital for further medical scrutiny.
Clement Ongalo Obote, the state minister for Teso Affairs while addressing the youths who had gathered for the celebrations challenged them to take up government projects like the parish development model PDM which is said to be a magic bullet for poverty eradication so as to improve on the household livelihoods, On the same note Ongalo commended the Katakwi district authority for maintaining the old ambulance for a period of 15 years and asked them to equally maintain the same.
“Now that the new ambulance has come, my people make the best use of it,” Ongalo said.

The minister further in response to the iron sheets request tabled by the youths pledged 500 iron sheets to the district in collaboration with the office of the Vice President as they continue working together to serve the people of Teso.
The district youths Representative Stephen Otukei called on government through the office of the Vice President to open the recruitment ceiling for the districts of Teso to allow them bridge the gap more especially in in education sector where he said the sector is grappling because of less man power and this would solve the question of unemployment and creates jobs for the youths in the sub region hence creating opportunities for the young people.
Earlier, the vice president visited the Katakwi general hospital where she interacted with some of the patients.
She also said that government through the visionary leadership of president Yoweri Museveni is committed in ensuring that health in particular is improved and this will be done through the improvement of the infrastructure at the lower facilities to accommodate soaring numbers of patients that flock the facility on a daily basis.
She adds that recently government approved the master plan of Katakwi general hospital and only a waits funding saying when government allocates funds the work begins.
HE Rtd. Maj. Jessica Alupo was accompanied by the Teso Affairs state minister, Kenneth Ongallo-Obote,Katakwi district chairperson Geoffrey Omolo, Katakwi district, Health Officer Icumar Simon Omeke among other district leadership.
