Lagu, 41, was pronounced dead on Monday morning at her home in Nabugabo.
The “Ogumanga” hit maker has been battling heart and kidney complications for years.
The news of Evelyn Love’s demise was confirmed by fellow artist and President of the Uganda National Musicians Association (UNMF), Edirisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo in a post via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning.
“We took these pictures last Tuesday at the Jam Session and I can’t believe you are gone dear Evelyn Lagu,” Kenzo said in a brief post.
“You have fought a big battle my sister and may your soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
Born Evelyn Nakabira, Lagu was born on June 1, 1982, in modern-day Kalungu district which was part of Masaka. She grew up with her aunt in Mityana district following the death of her parents.
