AMURIA. Up to 116 young Christians in eastern district of Amuria on Sunday received a sacrament of confirmation at St. Andrews Church of Uganda.
The sacrament, the second in Christian faith that strengthens one as a Christian, was administered by the Anglican Bishop of Soroti Diocese, Rt. Rev. Capt. Kosea Odongo at Amuria Archdeaconry headquarters.
The 116 Christians, most of whom are young, also included 7 adults drawn from all the parishes of the Archdeaconry.
They pledged commitment to live a Christian life and carry on with the evangelization and missionary work of God.
Grace Odongo, the Mothers Union Chairperson in Soroti Diocese and wife to the Bishop, challenged the Christians who received the sacrament to proclaim their faith at all times and work as soldiers or Disciples of Christ.
During the same event, Bishop Odongo also wedded an elderly couple, John Basil Ousi and Margaret Ousi residents of Kuju Sub County.
The couple from Angorom village in Kuju bagged home a Friesian cow, thanks to the honorable State Minister Musa Francis Ecweru for his courteous heart.
Bishop Odongo also gave a goat to the couple as a gift.
Kuju Sub County Representative Jacob Aliu lauded the elderly couple for joining the holy matrimony.
Hon. Aliu asked women to emulate Margaret Ousi who tied a knot with her husband despite having a visual impairment.
