The supplementary budget now pushes Amuria district budget for FY 2023/24 to 34 billion. In May, the Council approved a budget of 29.7 billion shillings.
The supplementary budget was presented by the secretary for Finance Kokas Erusu in a council meeting presided by Charles Otim, the district speaker.

The workers’ Representative Joseph Collins Obwalinga expressed hope that the budget allocation especially to education will go a long way in improving education standards in Amuria.
“When you look at educational standards of Amuria, it’s really wanting. There is a deficit of about 75 classrooms, we need more teachers but our hands to recruit are tied. However, we expect out allocations on education to go a long way in addressing some of our challenges hence improving academic standards,” said Obwalinga of the Council decision to allocate 38 million to schools capitation grant.
The CAO Amuria thanked Council for passing the supplementary budget which she said will now enable the district to deliver services to the people.
