Electorates of Soroti City West constituency have ratified the former Mp aspirant Calvin Echodu for his continuous efforts and commitment in supporting the education of the disgruntled children across Teso Sub – region.
Echodus praise comes after he again shocked the mourners during the burial of the deceased NRM Registrar and Chairman of Agora Ward Joseph Mulindwa who succumbed to throat cancer on 27th October 2023.
Before the weeping crowd, Echodu, the NRM flag bearer during the 2021 elections, now tagged as the Mp in waiting, took over the responsibility of fully educating the daughter to the deceased from the current S.2 class up to University for her final course.
Mbabazi Esther aged 16, a senior two student at Soroti Senior Secondary School is the fifth child of the deceased and shall be taken to the best schools in the Country of the family’s choice, and shall be fully sponsored by Calvin Ecodu.
Mr. Moses Otekat the Youth Minister in the Iteso Cultural Union who represented Echodu in the burial ceremony made the pronouncement while delivering his condolence message to the family of the deceased and the entire mourners.
“I have been shocked by the news of the untimely death of my friend, my chief campaigner in Agora ward, the chairman and the Registrar of the NRM. Unfortunately this finds me out of the country on official duty however, I have committed to support his child by fully covering her tuition and other School necessities in any Ugandan school within the choice of the family.” the message read.
He delivered the sum of Shs. 500,000 to support the family and pledged his continuous support to the family.
Miriam Acan the woman councilor representing Agora ward in Soroti City West Division Council, also a close relative to the deceased expressed her gratitude to the former aspirant Echodu .
“I am completely speechless and filled with overwhelming joy, our family and clan shall forever pray for Mr. Echodu and his family for their large heart. I have been so bothered about the education of the children of my late brother, yet God already had the best answer though Mr. Echodu. I pray that God may bless him and give him an opportunity to lead his people of Soroti City West.”
Musa Oroma the NRM district registrar applauded Echodu for continuously being in touch with the electorates even after what happened in the previous elections.
“These are the type of leaders Teso is lacking, we need leaders who support their people and work towards building the future generation. The National Resistance Movement party does not identify weak leaders to carry their flag and this has been exhibited by Mr. Calvin Echodu. I therefore Challenge the electorates to take it upon their hands in the coming elections to think twice and vote for development.” he said.
The community of Agora has praised and promised to support Mr. Echodu for his countless efforts to change their society in various ventures such as ; rehabilitation of Primary Schools like Agora Primary School where he erected a magnificent class room block to resolve the crisis of infrastructure as before pupils studied under trees, he also ensured that clean water be availed to communities by drilling and repairing boreholes and supporting youth groups amongst others.
Over 5000 students across Teso Sub – region have so far benefited from the Education opportunities availed by Calvin Echodu and his associates including Soroti Municipal Secondary School that has operated in Teso for over two decade while supporting the disgruntled children.
