One of the 2021 general election candidates for Woman Member of Parliament seat in Terego District, Ms Anakuru Regina who was reported in the media to have joined Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has come out to defend herself.
During an interview in Leju town council, Terego District, with our reporter, the Terego District NRM publicity for workers league, Ms Anakuru Regina who is also the owner of Anakuru Holdings Ltd Hotel, told our reporter that, in January 2021 when FDC Party went to Yumbe Town to organize a meeting that was hosted by her hotel, she just stood up to welcome and address the dignitaries but her welcome statements were captured and shared viral in both news and Social Media claiming she had defected to FDC party ahead of the 14-1-2021 general elections.
According to her, the welcome remarks she made as the owner and also one behalf of management of the hotel, to welcome FDC Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and other opposition party officials in the event culminated into her joining FDC.

“I was captured out of context, and from today, I must tell the world that, I didn’t cross over to FDC and I will forever remain a staunch NRM supporter and member”, Ms Anakuru insisted as she narrates how she resigned her position of working as a nurse in Moyo District local government, in exchange for participating in active politics.
Dressed in red clothes, she gave an assurance of her unwavering support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Ms Anakuru Regina was one of the candidates who contested in September 2020 in the NRM party primary elections for the position of Terego District Woman MP seat.
She and others lost the September 2020 primary election to Hon Obigah Rose who also defeated other contestants in the 14-January-2021 general elections.
