Kaberamaido: Charles Engoru, a retired and Renown pediatrician, as well lecturer in soroti university is highly concerned about the two best UCE students in Kaberamaido whose struggling families could not continue paying their tuition for Senior Five studies.
Sired by vulnerable families in the Villages of Kaberamaido district, Oswald Okupa and Emmanuel Osuje who scored 24 and 32 aggregates respectively in Kobulubulu Senior Secondary School, attempted to drop out having failed to raise tuition.
Their narrow path came like a dream after the information drugged to social media and attracted a good Samaritan to solicit some funds as their school fees start up.
Today, the duo is ready to report to School having received each financial support towards their tuition clearance for Term one from Dr. Engoru Charles.
Each received relief of I million shillings, 02 bed sheets, and other scholastic materials including counter books, pens and school bag among others.
Dr.Engoru who has been the school chairperson board of governors for Kobulubulu senior secondary school from it’s inception as a community school in 2004 till 2012 retaliated the need for the entire public to uphold education.
“There is growing need for parents and children to focus on a education as the only way to fight the tabulent poverty.” he said
Adding, ” I therefore challenge our well placed leaders to lead the public out of the illiterate shadow and build a sustainable generation.”
Kobulubulu senior secondary school started in 2004 as a community school seed school, and was later taken over by the government in 2009.
The school is grappling with a number of challenges ranging from infrastructure, lack of functional science laboratory under staffing of teachers.
Dr.Engoru said that he picked interest as a person to reward these students for their better performance .He said that the money is coming from his pocket as the promised he made last year to award the best performing students.
“I had put a side 6 million shillings for the best performing students 6 of them but I only got two where by I will keep the 4 million shillings for next year.” he said
He further said that his support to these students is to help raise the standard of education in the sub county of Kobulubulu.
Meanwhile, Mrs Sarah Okala the School headteacher appreciated Dr Engoru for sponsoring the two students and his continuous support to the grappling School as she pleads to government for the support.
“Much as these students have received support, their future is still unpredictable because no one is showing up to take over their continuous studies.” she said.
Adding, ” There First term in S.5 has been catered by Dr. Engoru, my only worry is about term two and their continuity.”
She now pleads to other hands to team up in supporting the education.
