In a recent communication to a senior group, Bosco Okiror, the Chairman of the Teso Parliamentary Group (TPG) and Member of Parliament for Usuk County, has addressed misconceptions surrounding cattle compensation in Teso, Lango, and Acholi regions.
Responding to allegations of no compensation being provided by the government, Okiror emphasized that while some individuals might not have received compensation, payments have indeed been made to certain people. He urged for a more informed discourse, pointing out the importance of seeking accurate information in today’s era of easily accessible data.
Okiror, who serves on the committee of legal and Parliamentary affairs responsible for cattle compensation alongside Honorable Oseku, Achayo, and Adeke, assured that funds have been allocated for cattle compensation in the upcoming financial year budget. He emphasized the need to avoid populism and encouraged factual truthfulness in discussions regarding this issue.
Highlighting the collective effort of Teso MPs, Okiror acknowledged that while the process of compensation began before their tenure, significant progress has been made during their leadership. He attributed this progress to the collaborative support of all stakeholders and noted the importance of positive energy in achieving results.
Okiror concluded his statement with a call for unity and gratitude, suggesting that the recent advancements in cattle compensation are a testament to the collective efforts of the government and its officials. He expressed gratitude and ended his communication with a message of peace.
