Stephen Ejoku, the CEO of Ejoku Foundation and incoming LCV for Soroti District under the NRM ticket, delivered a compelling message to widows across the Teso subregion, emphasizing the importance of adopting productive ideologies for economic and social sustainability.
Speaking at the memorial service of the late Papa Alex Acheta on March 30, 2024, in Aputon village, Awoja parish, Aukot subcounty in Soroti district, Ejoku addressed a diverse audience, including hundreds of attendees and notable figures like Papa Charles Okello and Stephen Ekoom, the RDC of Ngora district.
Ejoku stressed the significance of moments like these, especially for widows and widowers, acknowledging the profound impact of losing a loved one. “These are moments that redefine one’s life, particularly for widows and widowers. It’s a time when everything changes, before and after the loss,” remarked Ejoku.
Encouraging widows to focus on constructive approaches, Ejoku outlined key pillars for success, including prioritizing good health, ensuring the education of their children, assuming leadership roles within core groups, and letting go of circumstances beyond their control.
He emphasized the importance of embracing uncertainty, asserting that it enables individuals to release expectations and adapt to realities. “Settling in with uncertainty allows us to let go of expectations and embrace what is,” Ejoku stated.
Ejoku’s impassioned plea resonated with the audience, underscoring the need for practical strategies to empower widows and promote sustainable livelihoods across the Teso subregion.
As Stephen Ejoku prepares to assume the role of LCV for Soroti District, his advocacy for widows’ empowerment and his dedication to community development through the Ejoku Foundation signal a promising future for economic and social progress in the region.
