The Karamoja region has concluded interviews for probationer police constables, with a total of 215 candidates participating in the process across the nine districts.
The interviewing process, which spanned several days, culminated on May 13, 2024, with the final sessions held in Karenga and Nabilatuk districts. The turnout and engagement of candidates throughout the region were commendable, reflecting a strong sense of patriotism and dedication to serve the nation.
Expressing appreciation, the police department extended gratitude to various stakeholders, including political leaders, civil servants, religious leaders, and kraal leaders, for their instrumental role in mobilizing the youth, affectionately known as “Karacunas,” who expressed interest in joining the police force.
IP Longole Mike, the Acting Public Relations Officer for the Mount Moroto Area Support Team Unit, expressed satisfaction with the conduct and enthusiasm exhibited by all the recruits during the interviews. He encouraged the candidates to remain prepared while awaiting the final list of successful candidates, which will be communicated by the top management.
The breakdown of candidates interviewed per district is as follows:
1. Nabilatuk: 21
2. Nakapiripirit: 15
3. Amudat: 14
4. Moroto: 35
5. Napak: 27
6. Abim: 45
7. Karenga: 15
8. Kaabong: 19
9. Kotido: 24
As the region eagerly anticipates the announcement of the successful candidates, the completion of the interview phase marks a significant step forward in bolstering law enforcement and security efforts in Karamoja. The commitment and dedication demonstrated by the candidates reflect a promising future for policing in the region, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
