Amuria District is riding the crest of a wave, as Team Quality Education Consultancy Ltd (QECL) and OPUL Skilling Foundation Africa (OSFA) light a fire under the local youth with an innovative training program.
With generous funding from the Amuria District Local Government, National Youth Council, and Hon. Minister Musa Ecweru, this initiative is set to turn the tables on poverty and unemployment.
Over 1000 eager young minds from 18 sub-counties are being armed to the teeth with skills in entrepreneurship, poverty analysis, mindset change, group dynamics, and savvy savings and credit management.
This program promises to not just stir the pot but create a seismic shift in the economic landscape, forecasting 1000 business start-ups, 1000 jobs, and a whopping 500 million UGX in revenue over the next two years.
The training, which saw the LC5, RDC (represented by Diso), and CAO gracing the event, is a game-changer.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to CAO Amuria for putting faith in QECL and OSFA, choosing them from a pool of consultants. This decision underscores the potential for a brighter, more prosperous future for the youth.
Aligned with the NRM Manifesto 2021-2026’s top priority—Creating Jobs & Wealth—this initiative is also hitting the bullseye on several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 2: Zero Hunger, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.
It further echoes the World Bank Group’s twin goals of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity, alongside the African Development Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy (2024–2033) for sustained economic growth and prosperity.
This is not just a flash in the pan; it’s a tidal wave of change. With youth empowerment at its core, Amuria is gearing up to flip the script and take the bull by the horns, steering towards a future brimming with opportunity and success.
