LUUKA DISTRICT – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed deep condolences to Hajji Faruk Kirunda following the tragic death of his wife, Ms. Gladys Aliyinza, known affectionately as Maama Mandela. Aliyinza, an esteemed Administrator with the Office of the NRM National Chairman, passed away on June 27, 2024, in a fatal motor accident in Luuka district.
In a heartfelt message delivered by Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, President Museveni lauded Aliyinza as a loyal cadre and a great mobilizer for the NRM Party. He assured Kirunda, the Deputy Press Secretary to the President, of unwavering support from the NRM community during this difficult period.
Aliyinza, who held degrees from Makerere University and Nkozi University, was celebrated for her dedication and service to Luuka district. She is survived by her husband and three young children.
The burial at Lambala village, Irongo Sub County, saw hundreds of mourners, including prominent cultural, religious, and political figures. The State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom Dr. Joseph Muvawala, and other dignitaries paid tribute to Aliyinza’s impactful life and commitment.
President Museveni’s message resonated with many, highlighting the profound loss to the NRM and extending heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
