Amudat RDC, LCV Vice, DISO, DVO, DPC, and Other Technical and Political Staff Launch Mass Livestock Vaccination Against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD)
Amudat District has received 50,000 doses of the FMD vaccine as part of the 3 million doses procured by MAAIF, along with another 30,000 doses for LSD.
RDC Owanyi thanked the Government, through MAAIF, for this timely intervention in the livestock communities.
The RDC decried the cultural practice among the Pokot of depriving their most sharp and brilliant children of access to education, preferring instead to have them shepherd animals.
The RDC was shocked to see that over 60 shepherds who had brought the animals for vaccination were all under the age of 10 years and meant to be in class.
The vaccination exercise continues this morning in all the sub-counties and will be conducted by the sub-county extension workers.
MAAIF has further provided UGX 200 for every vaccine dose administered as payment for the extension workers.
