It is evident that the Forum for Democratic Change Party in Teso Sub -region may face the dramatic incident in Soroti City as their own two candidates emerge to stiffly tussle themselves in the Soroti City Mayoral race.
This publication has understood the seasoned Hon. Stephen Ochola, formerly the Serere County legislator, currently the Chairperson Serere District Local government has picked interest to contest as Mayor Soroti City.
According to the inside sources with in the FDC camp, Ochola has picked forms expressing interest as a mayor Soroti City under the FDC party ticket.
Top on his priority list is to change the current image of Soroti as the dirtiest young city in Uganda which posts the lowest local revenue collections.
He is also disturbed with the manner with which the open green spaces are being encroached on coupled with the alarming grabbing of public land.
Speaking, “as a former leader who left Soroti very clean and intact, I am dismayed by the current state of affairs in our own regional capital city.”
On the other hand, the FDC’s Paul Omer currently the Soroti East Division Mayor has also declared his intention to contest for the Mayor Soroti city, a position currently occupied by the Hon. Joshua Edogu who has seemingly laid down his tools from politics by gesture.
Omer who is a the main architect of the FDC party victorious record has been on the green lights of politics in Soroti since his youthful age.
In the political history of Soroti, Omer has never lost any political contest since 2001 when he contested as the councilor of Moru-apesur ward.
He climbed ladders from the posts of the Councilor and speaker Soroti Municipal council Eastern Division, the LC. 3 Chairman twice and the mayor Soroti Municipality.
Some of the voters in Soroti city say that the return of Mr. Ochola to Soroti is going to shake the foundation of Soroti’s Politics to it’s core.
