Phillips Ogile Jakayo, the Abok LCIII Chairperson and NRM Publicity Secretary for Oyam District, was arrested and detained at Oyam Central Police Station on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, over alleged libel. Ogile is accused of falsely accusing Jane Frances Acilo, the Oyam Woman MP aspirant candidate, of kidnapping and murdering Ojok Julious, also known as Ojok Adidit, a resident of ArwotOngo village in Juma Parish, Myene sub-county, Oyam district.
The allegations stem from a social media post made by Ogile on February 18, claiming that Acilo had arrested Ojok in 2018 and subsequently killed him. Acilo reported the incident to Oyam Central Police Station, leading to Ogile’s arrest after he was summoned to the district CID office to record his statement.
Ogile was later released on police bond after his surety, Geoffery Okech, provided the necessary documents. The investigation is ongoing, and Ogile is expected to appear in court soon to answer the charges against him ¹. When contacted for comment, Ogile denied the allegations and vowed to continue fighting for the rights of Ojok Julious, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The libel case against Ogile is filed under CRB 135/2025 at Central Police Station, pending investigation. His file will be forwarded to the resident state attorney for legal advice. This is not Ogile’s first encounter with the law, having previously faced charges related to Lango cultural fights and assaulting his wife.
