Uganda People’s Congress Party President Jimmy Michael Akena has pledged to restore dip tanks for spraying animals in Kalaki District if voted into power in the 2026 General Elections. Akena made this promise during his grassroots rally at Kalaki Primary School, where he addressed a gathering of supporters.
Akena reminisced about the past, telling the public that deep tanks were available during his father’s government, but they have since been removed by the current administration. He reassured the people of Kalaki and Uganda as a whole that only the UPC party can restore these essential facilities.
Akena shared a personal anecdote, recalling how he was given a bull from Kalaki at the age of 13, which he took to his grandfather in Akokoro. His grandfather added more animals to his herd, and Akena learned how to care for them using the deep tanks available at the time.
During his ongoing grassroots mobilization tour in the Teso region, Akena, accompanied by Teso Regional Vice Chairman Karl Peter’s and other leaders, opened the UPC office in Kalaki Town Council. This move is part of his efforts to mobilize support for the party.
Akena’s message to the ruling party was clear: “We can’t wait any longer.” He was responding to concerns about human rights abuses at the lake and unfulfilled promises of cattle compensation. This was during his grassroots mobilization tour in Kalaki District.
