Isaac Angura, the driver of Amolatar District LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Ocen Kiring, is in serious trouble for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl. The Legal Department of the National Youth Council, Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, has stepped in to ensure justice is served.
A team led by Mercy Kanyesigye, Secretary Legal Affairs of the National Youth Council, visited Amolatar district on February 17, 2025, to investigate the matter. However, the victim’s father, Godfrey Odur, denied them access to the girl and refused to provide any information about the case.
Kanyesigye warned against any interference in the case, emphasizing that defilement is a capital offense that must be tried in court. The National Youth Council will closely follow the case to its conclusion.
The team also met with Joel Ambrose Otema, the area LC 1, who condemned the victim’s parents for not reporting the incident to his office. Otema was surprised to have heard about the incident through the radio, despite it occurring within his area.
According to the police report, Angura allegedly defiled the girl in the bush on Wednesday night and was arrested and detained at Alemere police post on Thursday. He was later transferred to Amolatar Central Police Station, where he is currently being held. If sanctioned, Angura is expected to appear in court on February 18, 2025, for a plea.
