The Atek Keno Clan Leaders have publicly distanced themselves from allegations made by Phillips Ogile Jakayo, NRM Publicity Secretary for Oyam District, against Jane Frances Acilo, Oyam Woman MP aspirant. The clan has stated that it will not involve itself in such political disputes.
The allegations in question were made by Ogile on various social media platforms, claiming that in 2018, Jane Frances Acilo was responsible for the arrest, kidnapping, and murder of Ojok Julius Peter, also known as Ojok Adidit, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Acilo subsequently reported the matter to Oyam Central Police Station, leading to Ogile’s arrest. He was later released on police bond as investigations continue.
Speaking to the press, David Tile Opuna, the Atek Keno Clan head, emphasized that his clan has no connection to either Ogile or Acilo. He criticized Ogile for attempting to involve the clan in what he described as “unwarranted actions.” Tile demanded that Ogile withdraw the statements and offer an apology to the clan.
Anthony Alari, the Atek Keno Clan’s Chief in charge of blood compensation, noted that as a clan, they always follow traditional procedures when handling cases involving the deaths of their members. He cautioned Ogile against involving himself in their clan issues, as he is not a member of the Atek Keno Clan. Alari suggested that Ogile’s actions may be motivated by selfish political interests.
The libel case against Ogile is currently filed under CRB 135/2025 at Central Police Station, pending investigation, according to Oyam’s Police.
