Hilder Angako, daughter of the former Local Council Five chairperson, and her grandson, Darius Ekongu, appeared before Grade One Magistrate Jackline Kembabazi on September 10, 2024. Over the past eight months, the NDA uncovered these stolen drugs in private health facilities and individuals’ homes. The authority raised concerns over drug shortages in government health centers, blaming the diversion of essential drugs by dishonest individuals, which has caused hardship for vulnerable communities. Over 600,000 people die from malaria every year, with an estimated 76% under 5 years of age.
