The incident, which has left his family, colleagues, and the community in shock, occurred at Olianai in Kakure Sub-County at around 10 a.m. on his journey from Soroti back to Kalaki.
Engineer Olobo, a respected figure within Kalaki Town Council and beyond, reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree along the road. The impact was severe, shattering the vehicle’s windscreen, and he was thrown from the car. Eyewitness accounts describe the harrowing scene of bystanders rushing to his aid amidst the wreckage.
He was quickly transported to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where medical teams worked tirelessly to stabilize him. However, his condition deteriorated, and it was decided to transfer him to Mbale for advanced care. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the facility, leaving his loved ones grappling with an irreplaceable loss.
The news of his passing was confirmed this evening by Hon. Dr. Clement Ongalo Obote, the Minister of State for Teso Affairs, during his address to the Teso Development Association (TESDA) delegates. In a heartfelt statement, the minister expressed deep sorrow, recognizing Engineer Olobo’s significant contributions to Kalaki District’s development and the void his death has left.
