Thousands of Christians in Soroti City West experienced an unexpected wave of joy and gratitude as philanthropist Calvin Echodu made surprise visits to various churches during the Palm Sunday celebrations. Echodu, accompanied by Peter Edeku Edopu, the Dakabela Psalmist, garnered immense attention and support from the community as he made substantial donations to aid in the development of local churches.

Echodu’s philanthropic journey commenced at Agama Catholic Church in Agora ward, where he presented a significant sum of 1,500,000 shillings towards church development initiatives. The congregation erupted into applause, acknowledging Echodu’s generosity and support for their endeavors.

Continuing his mission to uplift local communities, Echodu then visited St. Michael Church of Uganda in Nakatunya, where he was dismayed to find worshippers gathering under a mango tree due to the lack of a proper shelter. In response, Ecodu pledged a staggering 30,000,000 shillings to facilitate the completion of the church’s construction, ensuring that the faithful have a conducive place for worship and fellowship.

The journey culminated at Amoru Pentecostal Assemblies of God (P.A.G) Assembly Church in Arapai, where Echodu further demonstrated his commitment to community development by contributing 3,000,000 shillings towards the construction of a new assembly church. Bishop Mathew Omagor of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God expressed profound gratitude to Echodu, urging the congregation to rally behind such exemplary leaders who prioritize the well-being of their constituents.

In his impassioned address to church leaders and congregants alike, Echodu emphasized the importance of unity and peace, drawing parallels to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He called upon the clergy to foster harmony and cooperation within their communities, underscoring the transformative power of collective action in achieving lasting progress and development.

Echodu’s altruistic gestures have not only provided much-needed support to local churches but have also inspired hope and solidarity among residents of Soroti City West. As the community looks towards the future, Echodu’s philanthropic legacy serves as a beacon of compassion and generosity, embodying the spirit of selflessness and service to others.
