The political landscape in Teso Sub-region is heating up as Capt. Mike Mukula faces accusations from top leaders of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party regarding his alleged manipulative tactics aimed at promoting his son, Mukula Jr., for the position of Member of Parliament for Soroti City East.
Paul Omer, the FDC presidential envoy for the Eastern Region, has openly criticized Mukula, suggesting that his actions are designed to secure financial support from President Museveni while misleading the public.

Omer claims that Mukula is orchestrating events to create a facade of political support, notably highlighting a recent announcement where Mukula claimed that over 500 FDC supporters had switched allegiance to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) during an event he hosted at Timisha Hotel in Soroti.
However, FDC leaders have dismissed this claim as mere “Wolokoso,” a local term for gossip or unfounded rumors.
Omer further asserted that Mukula’s political career is nearing its end, suggesting that he is now attempting to shift his influence to his son.

“He went and mobilized street kids and cooked food for them in Timisha, then printed a fake FDC flag to take a picture for his lobbying, we only saw 12 excited young boys pausing with him in a picture.” Omer mentioned.
Adding, ” We want Mukula to publish the list of those who crossed so that public clearly gets to know them, instead of manipulating information for his gains.”
He referenced Mukula’s recent public appearances, including a visit to the grave of the late Peter Omolo, which Omer implied was another attempt by Mukula to gain public sympathy and attention.
In a related development, former Soroti City East bye-election candidate Moses Okia Attan has publicly challenged Mukula, accusing him of cowardice for blocking him on social media after a disagreement.
Attan has called for a direct debate with Mukula on his local radio station, asserting that Mukula should be willing to engage in open dialogue if he is confident in his political stance.
As the situation unfolds, the political dynamics in Teso will be closely monitored, with implications for both Mukula’s legacy and the future of his son’s political aspirations.
The public and political observers are urged to stay tuned for further developments in this contentious political narrative.
