Yesterday, 1st August 2024, the AIDS Information Centre (AIC) partnered with Soroti Regional Referral Hospital to conduct a comprehensive HIV/AIDS awareness program for the Miss Tourism Teso contestants at Softly Hotel. This event, organized by Miss Aanyu Jesica, highlighted the importance of HIV education in empowering young leaders. Participants received crucial resources such as self-testing kits and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), equipping them with essential knowledge and tools for HIV prevention and management.
The initiative at Softly Hotel is part of AIC’s broader commitment to enhancing community health and awareness efforts in the Soroti region and beyond. By focusing on preventive measures and early detection, AIC aims to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and improve the overall well-being of the population. Their collaboration with local healthcare providers ensures a comprehensive approach to HIV management, combining education with practical resources.
As the grand finale of Miss Tourism Teso approaches, scheduled for tomorrow, 3rd August 2024, at Cloud 9 “Aipany” on Moroto Road, the impact of AIC’s awareness program is expected to resonate deeply with both the contestants and the audience. The knowledge and tools provided by AIC not only prepare the participants to be ambassadors of health in their communities but also reinforce the importance of continuous support and education in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This collaboration underscores the vital role of AIC in promoting community health and fostering a culture of awareness and prevention.
