Serere: Serere Central Police Station are investigating a case of suspected murder of a Pentecostal pastor by assault that occurred on 24 Dec 2024 at around 11:30 pm at Agure Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) at Ocuko Village, Omagara Parish, Kateta Sub County in Serere District.
The deceased has been Identified as Pastor Enough John Michael aged 52, a pastor of Agure Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAD), and resident of Osokotoit Village, Kate has Parish, Kate has Sub-County in Serere District.
Findings reveal that the matter was reported on 26 Dec 2024 at 09 00 am by one Erutu Joseph a male adult aged 38 years old, Peasant and resident of Agigiroi Village, Omagara Parish, Kateta Sub County in Serere District.
It is alleged that the suspect is one Osagani aged30 years, Ogwanga Simon and resident of Mutebe Village, Omagara Parish, Kateta Sub County in Serere District
It is revealed that on Tuesday 24/12/2024 at around 11:30pm of the night, one Osagani, son of Ogwanga Simon came from Kampala and he was taken straight to PAG church for prayers by his father. The father said his son was being attacked by some demons. In the process of praying for him, he kicked the Pastor (deceased) and the Pastor fell down. Prayers continued and the person who had been brought to be prayed for and some other few worshipers plus the Pastor spent the night in the Church.
On 25/12/2024 during Christmas prayers at the same Church in the morning at around 08:30 am, the Pastor while conducting prayers collapsed on the pulpit.
He was then made to sit on a chair. Worshippers requested to take him to the health center but he refused saying that “the devil has been defeated”. He later became more weaker and was rushed to Serere Health Center IV.
The X-Ray results indicate that he had some cuts on the pancreas. He was taken to the Theater at around 3:00pm for an operation where he later died from.
The body has been taken to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital pending postmortem
