Kumi Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) James Kyomya faces serious allegations of misconduct and intimidation from Kumi residents, even as the district welcomes a new RDC. The timing is particularly significant as this controversy erupts just as Kumi received a new RDC yesterday, placing the administration under renewed scrutiny. In a detailed phone interview, prominent figure Mr. Olaboro accused Kyomya of multiple violations including targeting social media critics by filing cases against WhatsApp group admins, issuing unlawful orders against striking teachers, and interfering in political processes including alleged election violence.
Olaboro further revealed to this publication that the same Deputy RDC personally conned him of $600, presenting this as evidence of a wider pattern of financial exploitation. “This is not just my individual loss,” Olaboro stated, “but a strong indication that the majority of political candidates and residents could be suffering similar exploitation in silence, afraid to speak out against someone in power.”
The arrival of new leadership has intensified calls for accountability, with residents now demanding Kyomya’s immediate removal. Olaboro directly challenged the DRDC, stating, “Let Kyomya produce the people he arrested to court if his actions mean well for Kumi,” and boldly declaring, “I am sacrificing myself to stand in court for the people of Kumi.” He characterized Kyomya’s actions as signs of “incompetence” that have no place in public office, especially under the new administrative structure.
As the situation evolves under new leadership, the people of Kumi are watching closely to see whether the presidency will address these serious allegations against Kyomya. The community hopes the new RDC’s arrival yesterday will bring positive change and restore integrity to the district administration, though many remain skeptical until concrete action is taken regarding the financial exploitation and other misconduct allegations.
Despite multiple attempts to reach DRDC Kyomya for comment on these allegations, all efforts proved futile. The official could not be reached for his perspective on the serious accusations leveled against him.
