GULU, Uganda — Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja praised Northern Uganda State Minister Dr. Kenneth Omona for his exemplary leadership during a vibrant homecoming and thanksgiving event in Gulu. The celebration, marked by the presence of high-ranking officials and local leaders, underscored the government’s commitment to the region’s development through affirmative action programs.

Prime Minister Nabbanja’s address resonated deeply with attendees, particularly as she detailed the affirmative action programs tailored for Northern Uganda. “NUSAF 4, which is soon to be rolled out, will focus on critical areas such as infrastructure, health, and education,” Nabbanja highlighted. “These programs are designed to empower the people of Northern Uganda and provide them with the resources they need to rebuild their lives.”

The event celebrated collective efforts toward Northern Uganda’s recovery and prosperity. The Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) initiatives, along with the Development Initiative for Northern Uganda (DINU), have been pivotal in addressing the socio-economic disparities caused by decades of conflict.

Local MPs echoed Nabbanja’s sentiments, pledging their support to Dr. Omona’s efforts and the government’s programs. “We stand united with Dr. Omona and the government’s initiatives. Our focus is on creating sustainable development that benefits every citizen of Northern Uganda,” stated one area MP.

The Acholi Paramount Chief, Rwot Onen Achana II, provided a cultural perspective, emphasizing the importance of community and tradition in the healing and development process. “Our cultural heritage is our strength. As we move forward with development, we must also preserve and cherish our traditions,” he said.

In an interview with this site, Mr. Augustine Otuko applauded Dr. Omona for his very good heart and mentorship of many senior cadres in the NRM today. Mr. Ocheng Osbond, the RDC of Lamwo, also commended Dr. Omona for his robust and loyal heart for service.

The Camp Fire Ideological Study Group, a senior assembly in the ideological orientation of cadres, were also present, featuring prominent figures such as the SPA/HE Caroline Angolere, Mr. Augustine Otuko, the Private Secretary to the President in charge of political affairs, Mr. Ocheng Osbond, the RDC Lamwo, and the beloved Mr. Ogwang Obura of Oyam South. They were delighted by the turnout and the overwhelming support shown to their senior member and patron, Dr. Omona.

Dr. Kenneth Omona, visibly moved by the overwhelming support, reiterated his commitment to the people of Northern Uganda. “Together, we can overcome any adversity. My role is to serve you and to ensure that Northern Uganda thrives,” Dr. Omona stated passionately.

The event also featured performances by local artists and cultural groups, showcasing the rich heritage of Northern Uganda. These performances served as a reminder of the vibrant culture and resilient spirit of the people. As the event drew to a close, there was a renewed sense of hope and determination among the attendees.

Prime Minister Nabbanja’s final remarks encapsulated the spirit of the day. “Today, we celebrate not just an individual, but a community united in purpose and vision. Let us continue to work together, support each other, and strive for the betterment of Northern Uganda. The journey ahead is long, but with unity and dedication, we will achieve great things.”

The event concluded with a traditional blessing from the Acholi elders, symbolizing unity and hope for a prosperous future for Northern Uganda.
