Kisoro District is set for a significant electoral event as the Electoral Commission (EC), led by Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, has confirmed comprehensive preparations for the upcoming election. In a final briefing, the EC outlined key measures to ensure a seamless and transparent process for the 162,189 registered voters in the district, comprising 56% women and 44% men.
Justice Byabakama highlighted that all 322 polling stations across the district are ready to facilitate voters on election day. Ensuring timely and effective logistics, the EC has planned the dispatch of voting materials to all polling stations starting at 4:00 AM on polling day. This measure is aimed at allowing sufficient time for setup and readiness before polling commences at 7:00 AM.
“Candidates’ agents are welcome to observe the dispatch process to guarantee transparency,” noted Justice Byabakama, reiterating the EC’s commitment to upholding a peaceful and orderly electoral exercise.
The Kisoro District Council Hall has been designated as the official tally center. Entry will be restricted to accredited personnel only to maintain order and security. The EC has also set up a query and complaints desk at the district council hall, ready to address any concerns that arise during the electoral process.
For further assistance, voters are encouraged to use the EC’s toll-free lines at 0800300127 or 0800300122. The polling process will be conducted from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
With all preparations in place, the Electoral Commission remains focused on ensuring that the election in Kisoro District is conducted fairly, efficiently, and peacefully.
