Kaberamaido District recently held peaceful National Resistance Movement (NRM) grassroots elections, which saw several candidates vying for key positions. In the main stream election for the District Chairperson, Emetu Alii from Ochero Sub-County emerged victorious with 274 votes, followed by Mr. Odykoi Raymond from Oriamo Sub-County with 2 votes, and Fred Oboi from Okile Sub-County with 15 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Alii Emetu called for unity among party members and urged them to work together for the betterment of the party. He also appealed for massive support for the NRM party and the President in the 2026 elections.
Oliver Adongo, a radio personality, was elected unopposed as the Vice Chairperson for Kaberamaido District. Mr. Epidu Robert from Oriamo Sub-County won the position of General Secretary with 146 votes, while Ecolu Francis secured the position of Secretary for Publicity with 216 votes. Angwaro Grace Okile was elected Chairperson of the Women’s League for Kaberamaido District.
The District Registrar for Kaberamaido District, Mr. Isaac Ojade, confirmed that the elections were peaceful from the grassroots to the district level, with no complaints registered during the exercise. He urged the winners to work together with the losers for the betterment of the party.
Angwaro Grace, the newly elected Women’s League Chairperson, called for unity among women and promised to unite the women of Kaberamaido District. She vowed to work closely with women from all lower local governments in the district.
