In an electrifying turn of events, grassroots mobilizer Toto Paulina has emerged victorious in the NRM Sub County structural elections, humbling deep-pocketed Akurut Violet, the aspiring Woman MP for Katakwi, in the race for Chairperson, Women’s League in Palam Sub-County.
In a phone interview with this site Toto Paulina shared her thoughts on the win. “They brought money in sacks, but we brought love in our hearts,” she beamed. “This win belongs to every woman who has been ignored, every mother who struggles to feed her children, every girl dreaming of a better Katakwi.”
We also spoke to some of Paulina’s supporters. Local farmer Apio Grace expressed her joy, saying, “We saw the money moving around, but we remembered all the dry seasons when no one came to help us. Toto has always been here in our struggles, that’s why we stood with her today.”
Young voter Ocen Robert added, “These people think we are fools who can be bought like cheap salt. Today we showed them that Katakwi people have wisdom.”
When asked about Akurut’s campaign strategy, Paulina’s supporters were unanimous in their dismissal of her opponent’s tactics. “She came with shiny promises, but we know those are just empty words,” said Apio Grace.
Attempts to reach Ms. Akurut Violet for a comment on her defeat were futile.
Toto Paulina’s victory marks a new chapter for Palam Sub-County, one driven by hope and grassroots support rather than financial musclemuPatriot.co.ug congratulates her on this historic win and looks forward to seeing her leadership in action.
