The FDC Katongo faction has submitted a letter to the Electoral Commission requesting the reservation of the party name “People’s Front for Freedom” (PFF) and its associated symbols.
In the letter dated August 27, 2024, the faction asks the commission to reserve the name, slogan, colors, and symbols of the new party.
The requested colors are white and royal blue, the symbol is a phone, and the slogan is “Freedom for All and All for Freedom.”
This is in accordance with section 6 and 7 of the political and organizations Act.
The letter, signed by 12 members of the faction, including notable figures like Hon. Wafula Ogutu and Hon. Ojok B’Leo, seeks to secure the identity of the new party ahead of its formal registration.
This move comes as the FDC Katongo faction prepares to break away from the main opposition party, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and establish a new political entity.
The reservation of the party name and symbols is a crucial step in the process, ensuring that the new party can establish a unique identity and differentiate itself from other political organizations.
The Electoral Commission is expected to review the request and make a decision on the reservation of the party name and symbols in accordance with the country’s electoral laws and regulations.
